About our Founder and President

After leaving the research world, Richard turned his attention to the commercial side of the scientific instrumentation business starting out as a technical specialist working to support field sales, then being promoted to a full-time sales role and then leading regional and north American sales teams, finally managing sales teams globally.
Richard is adept at building and managing commercial teams in diverse cultures and has conducted business in over 35 countries. Richard’s business experience spans from venture-capital backed start-ups, to SME’s, to large fortune 500 companies which includes being part of corporate development teams involved in M&A.
To build on his business acumen and management skills, Richard has participated in and completed course work at The Harvard Business School and the Stanford University Graduate School of Business. Most recently, Richard was a Director and member of the M3 board of directors at Carl Zeiss AG based in Oberkochen, Germany.

Dalia Yablon
PhD Columbia University, Physical Chemistry
After obtaining her Ph.D. at Columbia University, Dalia joined ExxonMobil’s Corporate Strategic Research where she worked in tribology, corrosion, sensors, lubrication, polymers, and many other areas across the full spectrum of the oil and gas industry. Dalia has extensive experience and is a recognized expert in surface characterization and nanomechanical characterization of materials. Dalia is currently the founder and president of Boston-based Surfacechar, and serves as the technical program chair of the annual TechConnect World and Innovation conference.

Fred Henn
PhD Indiana University, Chemistry
Fred spent his entire career as a technical sales engineer working for companies that specialized in supplying researchers with systems focused on materials growth and characterization. With a specific focus on imaging and spectroscopy in ultra-high vacuum (UHV) and low temperature (LT) environments, the systems were regularly configured for fundamental studies in physics, chemistry and materials science of surfaces. Major research interests for these systems included semiconductor materials, catalysts and new materials for quantum computing/quantum information processing (QC/QIP)

Sid has spent nearly his entire career in business development, with experience in product management, engineering, product introduction, contract negotiations, and setting up global distribution networks. Sid is also a certified SCORE business mentor and coach and also serves on the board of directors for the Manufacturers’ Agents National Association (MANA). Bernardo is a serial entrepreneur specializing in bioanalytical instrumentation using microfluidics and opto-mechanical engineering. Bernardo was the founder of Optofluidics, a particle analysis instrumentation company that uses high throughput image analysis to characterize the stability and purity of biologic drug products. Later renamed Halo Labs, Bernardo just completed the sale of his company to multibillion dollar scientific instrumentation company Waters Technologies

Henry Kautz
PhD University of Rochester, Artificial Intelligence
Henry is a recognized world authority on AI and has contributed seminal works to its development. Henry’s research includes practical algorithms for solving worst-case intractable problems in logical and probabilistic reasoning, pervasive healthcare applications of AI, and social media analytics. Henry is the former Division Director for Information & Intelligent Systems (IIS) at the National Science Foundation and led the National AI Research Institutes program. Henry is the recipient of the ACM-AAAI Allen Newell Award, and founder of the Gregorian Institute for Data Science.
